FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why don't you answer when I call?

    Because we're chatty!

We love to take time to discuss your pet's needs in detail. When we are fully booked, we prioritize the animals in our care over answering our phone. We promise, we'll get back to you at a time that allows us to fully focus on your four legged floof without compromising the quality of our work.

  • How much do your services cost?

Apart from nail trimming, each of our services are priced specifically for your pet. While we do base our prices on weight, other factors such as breed, frequency of grooming, length of hair, behavior, etc. may all contribute to your pet's pricing.

For a quote, please fill out our contact form and we will be in touch!

  • How long will you keep my pet?

We have structured our scheduling so that your pet is with us for only the time needed for their service, plus a few breaks. We have found that often, the most stressful part of grooming is simply the waiting times. We work hard to minimize this so that your pet has a more positive assosciation with grooming.

We do ask that you make yourself available to pick up your pet promptly (within 30 minutes) when they are ready to go home.

Typically, smaller dogs will require 2-3 hours, and larger dogs 3-4 hours for a full groom.

For cats, it totally depends on the service! Cats must be picked up as soon as possible to avoid un-due stress.

  • Can I stay with my dog while they are groomed?

If you are nervous to leave your dog, we encourage you to stay nearby, but totally out of sight and earshot of your pup while they are with us.

99% of dogs do so much better when their owner is not present. This is because if they can see you, they just want to get to you and get the heck outta here! This actually adds to their stress and makes the process so much more difficult for them and for their stylist.

Have no fear; if your dog needs you, we will call!

  • My pet is matted but I don't want them shaved. Can you do that?

    Humanity over vanity, always.

We cannot complete weeks or months worth of brushing in one day. If your pet's hair has matted, the only option we offer is to shave it off and start new. De-matting is painful, damages skin and hair, and often de-matted hair will re-mat very quickly.

We are happy to help you understand how to maintain your pup's coat to avoid matting in the future!

  • My dog has known to become aggressive with grooming. Can you help?

    Short answer: Maybe.

Depending on factors such as breed, age, medical history, etc, we may or may not be able to work with you to rehabilitate your pup.

When we see dogs becoming aggressive with grooming there is really only one cause: fear. This is why we have built our salon to be as peaceful as possible: from our calm environment to our certified Fear Free staff. Some pups who have had terrible experiences elswehere have had no trouble at all with us.

Our ability to overcome your dog's fears and counter-condition them to understanding that grooming is not a punishment is entirely dependant on your invlovement and dedication to the cause. We may require involvment of your veterinarian or a trained behavior expert to move forward with your dog's rehabilitation. Even then, some dogs may never rbe able to be groomed without medication or sedation.

We would love to talk to you more in depth about your dog's specific issues and offer whatever advice we can!

  • Is De-Shedding included in my pet's service?

    Always!

Our de-shedding process is part of our bathing and drying process, therefore we do not offer it as a separate service. All double coated dogs will have their coat de-shedded.

  • How often should my dog be groomed?

For breeds such as Poodles (including Poodle mixes,) Shihtzus, Maltese, or any breed that has continous growing hair, your pup should be groomed every 4-6 weeks as a general rule. Some of our clients see us more often, some a little less. The most important factor is the length of your pet's hair and keeping them tangle-free.

For double coated breeds such as Goldens, Huskies, Aussies, or any breed that sheds, it's really up to you!

  • My dog hates grooming, can you just hold him down?

    Nope.

All dog's deserve respectful handling. We will never use restrictive handling or force to complete your pet's groom.

We have a few ways of approaching this issue, please get in touch to discuss options for your pup!

  • Can you trim my Ferret, Bunny, or Guinea Pig's nails?

    We'd love to!

If your pet travels well and can tolerate being handled, we can absolutely trim their nails. We do not offer any other services for these pets at this time.

  • Do you work with all breeds?

We do! From the tiniest to the biggest!
